Gautam Padmanabhan, CEO of Westland said, ‘Eka will publish original writing across genres in nine Indian languages as well as translations between languages, including English. The imprint will make us a truly pan-Indian publisher reaching readers across the country—and elsewhere in the world. Additionally, Kindle’s compatibility with Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi will help push awareness and sales of books in those languages.’
Commenting on the launch of Eka, publisher Minakshi Thakur said, ‘Westland has in the last few years published language editions of many of its bestselling English titles. Westland titles including those co-published with independent Hindi publisher Hind Yugm have consistently dominated the Jagaran Nielsen Charts since 2017. Bringing the entire spectrum of language publishing under one umbrella imprint will help us focus our marketing efforts and also consolidate our work in the translation space.’
