Signs Taken for Wonders

They came

with their rod

and showed us signs

that they were God sent.

Laden with the merciful mantle

to lead us to our own promised land;

they showed us signs in your name

and immerse our minds in wonders.

Oh God!

Consider those things done in your name

before they make a total mess

of your divine pedigree.

Commission the axe-handed one,

infuriate him,

let him strike them down with thunder,

summon the war-thirsty one;

arm him;

let him bath in their blood.

Oh God!

Undo those things done in your name

…consider our lot.
