Review: Manjiri Prabhu constructs a dystopian world where the protagonist Zinnia faces her own struggles. Its never an easy task constructing an entire world because you need get the details right but Manjiri rises to the occasion and delivers a superb book. There are not many authors in India that dabble in the fantasy genre and Manjiri Prabhu is soon becoming a master at constructing alternate worlds.
The best part about the book is that although the world maybe full of fantasy, the characters are all relatable with human traits and shortcomings so it doesn’t really feel like an alien novel.
Manjiri’s language skills are pretty decent and she writes in an easy, not very fast paced fiction that is easy to understand and suitable for readers of all ages.

Zinnia has her own demons that she must battle and come out a true winner and like all good books, the protagonist does not disappoint maturing as the book nears the end. There is everything in this book right from a well developed plot to a love affair and the political shenanigans that are the hallmark of any civilisation. The author has a thing for animals and they receive ample limelight but the best part about the book is that the action never ceases. There is never a dull moment and the sequels will also be looked forward to I guess. I for one would eagerly look out for the next book in the series.
The only disappointing part is the predictable and not so satisfying ending but there is more coming. A well written book and worth a read.
