Short Story Submission

Eligibility

• All writers of short fiction are encouraged to submit to the 2010 New Asian Writing Short Story Anthology, regardless of nationality or location. There is no age requirement. We accept all genres.

• Short stories must be written in English, as it is one of the world’s major languages. As it is an “Asian writing” anthology, the stories must be about all things Asian. This means that either the setting of the short story is in an Asian country, or the main character is Asian, or the short story deals with aspects of any Asian culture, etc.

Editors

• The editors of the anthology is the Bangkok-based writer Maclean J. Storer, author of Forward O Peasant! (Gauss Publishing, 2008).

Deadlines and Entry Fees

2010 New Asian Writing Short Story Anthology

• The entry fee is 10 USD for each short story sent by November 30, 2010.

• The late entry fee is 15 USD for each short story sent between December 1-15, 2010.

New Asian Writing Competition

Online Submission Guidelines

• We accept only online submissions at naw.submissions[at]gmail[dot]com. All submissions must meet the requirements stated in our Submission Guidelines detailed above.

• A PayPal account is required for all online submissions. If you don’t have a PayPal account, then this link will take you to their website: www.paypal.com . PayPal accommodates the use of a credit or debit card. PayPal has an international reputation for the security of its system and is used around the world. Once there, complete their signup procedures, then return to this page to complete your online submission.

• Use the PayPal drop-down selection at the bottom of this section to pay for your submission prior to sending your story. You will be given a choice of paying for the deadline entry fee (before November 30, 2010) or for the late deadline entry fee (between December 1-15, 2010). Make sure you choose the appropriate one.

• In the subject line of your e-mail submission write the Transaction ID number given to you by PayPal, along with your full name as it appears on your PayPal receipt.

• Print out a copy of your PayPal receipt for your own records.

• By submitting your short story to the 2010 New Asian Writing Short Story Anthology you hereby agree to our Copyright clauses detailed below.

• Once your transaction is completed, you may submit your story to naw.submissions[at]gmail[dot]com. Make sure you followed the Submission Guidelines provided above.

• Notification of receipt of entry will be by email in no less than three working days. Stories cannot be altered or changed after they have been submitted.

New Asian Writing Competition

Copyright

• Authors will retain the rights to their work, but will give New Asian Writing permission to publish their work on our website and in our end-of-year anthology.

• After the work was published in the annual anthology, New Asian Writing will retain the copyright for one year.

• Once accepted for publication in the end-of year anthology, writers cannot submit the same short story to any other online or print publication / competition as long as the copyright rests with New Asian Writing.

• The copyright will return to the author on December 31, 2011.

• All writers who are published in the anthology will receive a complementary e-copy of the book.

• By submitting your short story to the 2010 New Asian Writing Short Story Anthology you hereby agree to the above copyright clauses.
